Outreach Internship Programme (OIP) is one of the research initiatives of IIIT Naya Raipur, to bring students from prominent institutions across the country right here to our campus. The institute has been organizing this programme since 2017. Many students who participated in the previous programme have benefited from this programme, which is evident by papers published by them. With this motivation, this year also, IIIT-NR invited students from all over India to spend 6 to 8 weeks in the institute carrying out research under the supervision of IIIT-NR faculty members. OIP programme allows visitors to participate in ongoing research projects and simultaneously enables the students to fulfill the summer internship requirements of their respective academic programs. Selected interns will get the chance to work diligently with motivated researchers to:

• Innovate technical solutions for the core research area
• Create and deliver a pioneering solution for real-life problems
• Publish your work in reputed conferences and journals
• Contribute towards patents filing

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

• Mode of Carrying out the Internship: Through interaction between students and faculty members in online/offline mode depending upon the current situation, as per the government guidelines.
• For whom (Eligibility): Students from other reputed institutes pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree are eligible to do an internship in IIIT-NR under any faculty member.
• The candidate must be from CSE, IT, ECE, ETE, EE, EEE, EI, Mathematics, Physics, Management, and related background. The candidate must be completing 6th semester (3rd year).
• Duration: An intern has to work in offline mode for 6 to 8 weeks to receive a stipend from the funded internships along with a certificate. In the case of an online internship, the stipend will not be provided, but a certificate will be issued. Students may join earlier/later as per their academic calendar, but the duration should be at least 6 weeks.
•  The stipend will be provided to selected students on successful completion of their internship and the recommendation of a faculty supervisor.
• Selection: A committee comprising of faculty members will screen and finalize the candidates for accepting as Summer Intern and attach each intern with a faculty supervisor on the explicit willingness of a faculty mentor. The Committee will select the interns based on CGPA/interview/project proposal, technical accomplishments, etc.
• The candidate will be informed about the acceptance of their candidature subject to fulfillment of Institute Rules.
• Selected candidates will have to report at IIIT Naya Raipur on the reporting date with an Internship Letter, Application Form, etc. Due to genuine hardships, a delay of 2-3 days can be granted on prior requests.
• We may tolerate a delay of 2-3 days for exceptional reasons such as exams if communicated well in advance.
• Accommodation: Intern students will be provided hostel accommodation if required with nominal charges. The accommodation facility is subject to availability. The cost of food and access to other amenities have to be paid by the student.
• Applicants will be required to submit a report at the end of the internship tenure.

Note: Interested candidates must apply online in the prescribed format on or before 25th April 2022. No separate application through letter or email will be entertained.

HOW TO APPLY

• During application form submission, the candidate will have to submit a photograph/signature in digital format and a recommendation letter from his/her HoD/faculty with institute seal.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

• Internship and stay at IIIT Naya Raipur involve some expenditure to be incurred by intern students.
• Summer interns may get a stipend if they work 6 to 8 weeks. Failing which intern will not be entitled to receive any stipend along with certificates. Interns may join earlier/later as per their academic calendar for at least 6 weeks’ duration. In other cases, no stipend will be provided; only a certificate will be issued to the intern.
• A limited number of fellowships are available for the candidates undergoing summer internships on the recommendation of a faculty supervisor.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR INTERNSHIP STUDENTS

Upon Arrival

1. Students need to report at the main gate with an Internship Letter.
2. They will be directed to their place of accommodation for their rooms (for candidates who have asked for accommodation).
3. A hard copy of the Internship Letter, Application Form along with the requisite documents signed by the student should be submitted, at the time of joining the internship, to the office of Student Affairs (I/c).

At IIIT Naya Raipur

1. Students need to sign the attendance register kept in the academic building's main gate of the institute without fail. Failure to put attendance leads to absence from the institute.

PREVIOUS OIPs

Every year, OIP attracts a large number of applications from institutions all over India. Out of these, selected students from different institutes get an opportunity to do an internship at IIIT-NR. Some of them are from the State of CG while others are from reputed institutions like IIT’s, NIT's, IIIT's, well- known private universities, etc., all over India. IIIT-NR is proud to host, guide, and provide them exposure to research through its high-quality laboratories, recent advanced technologies, tools, and library facilities, in addition to financial support.

The purpose of the OIP is to enable undergraduate students to carry out independent research in their field of interest. Students also get the opportunity to attend special lectures and workshops, which makes their stay a rewarding experience. In their feedback, some interns expressed that at IIIT- NR, they got exposure to the new technologies and hands-on experience on various advanced tools, about which they were not aware and which were not available at their parent institutions
